Hello, Cubekind forum readers!
I am conducing research at Kent State University on the educational uses of game programming and virtual worlds. Cubekind is one of several virtual worlds I am using in my research.
I am a member of the KSU game programming group, GameCraft. We have three group projects going on, one of which uses Cubekind to design an educational virtual world. Most of my other research was in the Second Life virtual world. Cubekind is a similar environment, but offers a fundamental advantage over SL: cubes are stored locally on computers, similar to how web servers store web pages. In SL, ownling land costs money, but in Cubekind, anyone can own cubes for free. As such, Cubekind representa a potential next step for Internet-based communication. Naturally, Cubekind is still in development. There are many bugs to be fixed, features and content to be added, and interface issues to be addressed. But the potential is there to do something very special. If you are interested in joining on this project, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Dean Zeller
